CVSA 2022 International Roadcheck is May 17-19 with a Focus on Wheel Ends

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has announced this year’s International Roadcheck dates as May 17-19 with a focus on wheel ends.

Mark your calendars

One thing you might be doing May 17-19 is stopping for an International Roadcheck motor vehicle inspection.

To understand the operation safe driver program, you have to understand the idea behind CVSA and what the organization stands for.

What is the CVSA?

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is a nonprofit association comprised of local, state, provincial, territorial and federal commercial motor vehicle safety officials and industry representatives. The Alliance aims to achieve uniformity, compatibility and reciprocity of commercial motor vehicle inspections and enforcement by certified inspectors dedicated to driver and vehicle safety.

This year’s CVSA Roadcheck focus will be on wheel ends

This year, the focus will be on wheel ends. Wheel end components support the heavy loads carried by commercial motor vehicles, maintain stability and control, and are critical for braking. Violations involving wheel end components historically account for about one quarter of the vehicle out-of-service violations discovered during International Roadcheck, and past International Roadcheck data routinely identified wheel end components as a top 10 vehicle violation.

Where are Inspections Held?

CVSA-certified inspectors are often at weigh stations, inspection stations, roadside, and designated inspection sites in Canada, Mexico, and the US.

Inspectors examine commercial trucks and combination vehicles, those hauling hazardous materials/dangerous goods (HM/DG), non-cargo tank HM/DG, and motor coaches/buses during the International Road Check.
